Umbrella Society

Despite a sincere desire to quit, and prolonged effort at abstinence, those in addiction commonly find they cannot stop using on their own. Umbrella Outreach offers support, individuals as they chart their journey toward reduction and/or abstinence.

Staffed by individuals who are either in recovery or have been deeply impacted by addiction, Umbrella Outreach team members intimately relate to the struggles, setbacks, and successes of their clients. It is this common ground of shared experience that generates the necessary trust and rapport for honest and vulnerable exchange – the catalyst that ignites the process of healing from addiction.

Following a client-centered approach in all interactions, Umbrella Society actively offers peer support, help with day-to-day problem solving, navigation of a bewildering system of services and resources, and finding appropriate mental health supports. Umbrella Outreach also refers clients as needed to Detox, supportive recovery, sober living and residential treatment.

“Umbrella is grateful to the Courtnall Society for its support of our Outreach Program,” said Executive Director Sharlene Law. “One hundred percent (100%) of the funds received will be applied to our youth outreach team. These funds will help Umbrella support individuals under the age of 24 with their mental health and substance use issues.”

The Courtnall Society for Mental Health supports Umbrella’s belief that recovery benefits us all and everyone deserves access to resources, supports and the opportunity change their lives.
