Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada
In January 2024, Greater Victoria took center stage as the host of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, a multi-day celebration of Canada’s game broadcasted nationally on Sportsnet. From January 17–20, the city’s iconic Inner Harbour transformed into a hockey hub, featuring family-friendly events, outdoor skating, and a festival at Ship Point.
The event made possible through a partnership between the Victoria Hockey Legacy Society, Sportsnet, Scotiabank, the City of Victoria, the Province of B.C., and Destination Greater Victoria, brought together hockey fans of all ages. Highlights included an NHL Alumni Game, appearances by the Stanley Cup, and live NHL coverage hosted by Ron MacLean.
Local hockey organizations, including BC Hockey, minor hockey associations, and the WHL’s Victoria Royals, played a key role in the festivities. As a legacy, a state-of-the-art artificial rink by CAN-ICE was installed, ensuring future generations can continue to enjoy the game.
We are incredibly grateful that proceeds from this incredible event were directed to the Courtnall Society for Mental Health, furthering our mission to support mental health initiatives in our community.
